Pokmon GO PokStop Showcases Squirtle instead of Mareep during Community Day Classic, Niantic iss

Trainers, the eighth Community Day Classic featuring Mareep is upon us, and it seems Niantic has hit a snag yet again, this time with the PokéStop Showcases. Despite announcements confirming Mareep and Ampharos as the stars for November 25, 2023, we’re in for a repeat performance from Squirtle. It’s almost like Squirtle has become the default for these Showcases, so brace yourselves to see it pop up more often than expected.

For those unfamiliar, Pokémon GO PokéStop Showcases are localized events where Trainers can enter specific Pokémon to compete against others. Each participating PokéStop is marked with a symbol to indicate an ongoing Showcase. However, not every Pokémon can join in; there’s a select list for each Showcase, and for November 2023, Mareep and Ampharos were supposed to be next in line.

Here’s what the schedule was meant to look like:

  • November 1-2: Duskull
  • November 7-10: Litwick
  • November 11-12: Tadbulb
  • November 15-19: Gothita and Mareanie
  • November 22-27: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly
  • November 25: Mareep and Ampharos (Now Squirtle)
  • November 26-27: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly
  • November 28: Lechonk

Trainers, please note that Squirtle will be appearing as the featured Pokémon in PokéStop Showcases during Mareep Community Day Classic instead of Mareep. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This mix-up has thrown a wrench in the plans of many Trainers, especially those who had been saving up their XXL Mareep for this specific event. It raises the question, will Lechonk’s Showcase also face similar issues?
