Live Nation, MGM Resorts Sued In The Wake Of Route 91 Harvest Festival Tragedy

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Ten survivors of the deadly shooting spree at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas have hit the estate of alleged gunman Stephen Paddock, as well as MGM Resorts, Mandalay Bay and festival promoter Live Nation with a lawsuit alleging negligence.

The litigants in the suit, all from San Bernardino and Riverside counties in California, seeks redress for physical and emotional suffering as a result of the attack. Two of them were struck by gunfire and all ten say they have “emotional wounds” according to CBS news.

In a statement to CBS, a rep for MGM Resorts said:

“The tragic incident that took place on October 1st was a meticulously planned, evil senseless act. As our company and city work through the healing process, our primary focus and concern is taking actions to support the victims and their families, our guests and employees and cooperating with law enforcement. We are grateful for all who came to the victims’ aid that evening, including our employees, first responders, the police and citizens who acted in countless ways to assist. Out of respect for the victims, we are not going to try this case in the public domain and we will give our response through the appropriate legal channels.”

The suit follows a separate lawsuit filed last week by Paige Gasper, a 21-year-old student at Sonoma State University in California. Defendants in Gasper’s suit include Mandalay Bay and its owner, MGM Resorts; Live Nation; and the company that manufactured the ‘bump stocks’ that modify semi-automatic rifles to be fired quickly and which were used by the Las Vegas gunman.

Gasper’s suit claims that te defendants “breached their duty of reasonable care” and failed to keep the hotel “in a reasonably safe condition” and failed to “properly train and supervise employees in an appropriate plan of action in case of an emergency.”

Live Nation declined to respond to CBS citing pending litigation but said they are cooperating with the investigation.
